What is SIA?
Goal
The Shopfloor Intelligence Assistant (SIA) is a service that supports leaders and operators in assembly lines with error predictions and action recommendations based on rework and process and test data. Thus, enabling them to identify quality issues in line and act accordingly, resulting in a reduction of rework and defect costs. This can be achieved with the use of data analytics and machine learning.
Background
SIA is the result of a joint project between SFM Systems, EIT Manufacturing, Technical University of Darmstadt, MAN and Magna. After several years experience in consulting for Shopfloor Management, rework was often identified as a common pain point that could not be eliminated. This background encouraged the initiation of a project with the goal to use modern technologies to reduce rework efforts in assembly lines.

With modern data analytics and machine learning technology SIA analyses rework and offers predictions and recommendations.
Record Deviations
Deviations can be documented through shop floor workers or automatically imported from line control systems.


Error Score
The error score is designed to calculate the top five error types. It is based on the frequency of occurrence, the time effort in rework, the sporadicity and whether the error follows a trend of increased occurrence.

1 Get to know each other
Before the start of every project it is important for both parties to get to know each other. After an initial phone call we offer our customers a thourough demonstration of our software. If you are still on board the next stept is a personal meeting at the location of your choice. The on-site impression gives us the opportunity to estimate the scale of the joint project.
2 Scan Data
The next step on the journey to implement SIA is to thoroughly collect and scan the historic data relevant to rework. These are for example rework documentation, test results or process data.
3 Train SIA
At this stage it is time to clean and prepare the data, customize the weights for calculations and train SIA.
4 Implementation
SIA can either be deployed teogether with our Digital Teamboard or as standalone version. As a standalone version SIA needs to be connected to data sources and visualisation tools.
5 Support
After the implementation of SIA we will support you whenever you need us!
